Japan Enters The War & The Fight for Gollipolli
Japan at first wanted to keep Asia away from the European conflict and so on August 15th 1914 sent an ultimatum to germany demanding that they return Jiaozhou; a German-leased territory to japanese authorities and move away all of their navy from Japanese and Asian waters wethought compensation or condition but whene Germany refused they joined the Allies and entered the war on August 23. Japan imediately began taking German held ports such as the fortress of Qingdao, and lands such as the Marshall, the Marina, Palau, and the Caroline Islands. Then British then decided that attacking the Ottomans would be a fine tactical ambition to hurt the Germans so the british navy launched an attack on the straight of Dardanelles along with other allied nations to open a waterway to Russia. They bombed the forts protecting the straight but had to withdraw from the water because their ships sustained damage due to water mines which caused them to decide to mobilize an opperation using English, CAnadian, Australian, and New-Zeland soldiers in order to take the Gallipolli Peninsula which failed after nine months because the tTurkish forces pinned down the allied soldiers on the beach.
America Enters The War
On April, 6 of 1917 America declared war on Germany after the struggle of Woodrow Wilson in which he urged Congress to create a war resolution for American economic interests. Senator George W. Norris argued that if they went to war for the economy they would be putting the dollar sign on the American flag but this argument was surely short lived. A clear factor for why America had to join the war was to secure that the Allies could pay of their loans and to retaliate against the German's unrestricted submarine warefare. After joining the war America assumed a policy of neutrality and issolation,, which to their benefit they agreed had been the best choice when they learned about trench warfare which left america appauled. Later during the war it occured to Wilson that peace would be a better alternative to military victory so he worked harshly to reconcile peace between Brittain, France, and Germany.
